The Dog Friendly Lake District

The Lake District has a huge choice of walks that you and your dog (or dogs) will love. There’s so much space to run around and a great variety of walks to explore and enjoy.

The wonderful variety of walks include gentle lake side footpaths, sandy beaches on the Cumbrian coast & Morecambe Bay, rivers, streams (or becks as we call them!) and literally thousands of footpaths that criss cross the valleys, fells, mountains, woods and forests. Both you and your dog (or dogs) will be able to enjoy a wonderful holiday together, day & night!

We allow up to 2 dogs to be booked to stay in our holiday cottages at the time of booking. We charge £20 for 1 dog or £30 for 2 dogs. This charge goes towards extra cleaning with a specialist pet hair removing Miele hoover so that non dog owners can rest assured that they will not see or smell any  evidence that a pet or dog has stayed in 1 of our self-catering cottages.

Following a few ‘unfortunate’ events, we will no longer allow more than 2 dogs to stay in our cottages. This isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly, but the actions of the careless few has tarnished the situation for the rest of us responsible dog owners. We want to keep our cottages in top condition so that all guests wouldn’t know a dog has stayed in the cottage.

Our holiday cottages are some of the best dog friendly cottages in the Lake District that you will find. There’s nothing worse than staying in a cottage that smells of other people’s dogs and we pride ourselves that this will not be something that you will experience when staying in our cottages.

We send all dog owners our ‘pets welcome’ info sheet. This contains a few simple requests like keeping your dog off the furniture and also includes a couple of our favourite walks from the doorstep.

The Lake District is full of wonderful pubs & cafes and most of these are pet friendly and child friendly too! – there’s a warm welcome for everyone!
