Cartmel Valley Cottages for Christmas & New Year’s Eve
20th August 2017
Christmas time & New Year is a great time of year to visit the Cartmel Valley and stay in 1 of our Lake District holiday cottages.
Unlike in days gone by, the pubs and restaurants don’t close in winter or at this time of year and there’s a great festive spirit in the air that helps provide that much forgotten ‘Christmas feeling’.
Each of our cottages in the Cartmel area are all tastefully adorned with Christmas decorations and of course a Christmas tree too. The tree and decorations are usually in place by mid December and remain until the new year.
Guests staying at our cottages can forget about having to worry about “who’s going to drive?” or “can we get a taxi?” as all of our Cartmel Valley cottages have great pubs within a 2 minute walk of the cottage. You can enjoy a great night out with locals and fellow holiday makers and then wander around the corner back to your lovely warm and cosy holiday cottage.
The wonderful local shops offer a vast and tempting array of fantastic local produce that include artisan bread and cakes, award winning pies, meats, poultry, hams & bacon and to finish off (if you have any room left) the much celebrated Cartmel village shop not only sell their famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding but also a wonderful selection of other very tempting indulgences too.

Over the last 3 or 4 years we’ve been lucky enough to have at least a bit of snow over Christmas. Imagine how beautiful and picturesque our valley is with snow clad hills and fells, frost laden hedges and the warmth of a real log fire waiting for you in the local pub and even better a roaring log fire in one of our luxury Lake District cottages!
Fortunately, as most of the roads in the Cartmel Valley are either at or just above sea level, none of our guests have ever struggled to get to and from our cottages over the Christmas and winter periods. The vast majority of roads in the Southern Lake District and Lake District Peninsulas are frequently gritted. None of our cottages are down inaccessible lanes-if you book elsewhere you do so at your peril!
Christmas in the Cartmel Valley staying in one of our luxury Lake District cottages is definitely hard to beat! Click here to see our holiday cottages in the Cartmel area.
